Edible Garden Sensory Bin

April 4, 2021

Hello Spring!! I am so excited that it is finally starting to warm up outside! To celebrate I wanted to do some gardening with Lola... So we put together this edible sensory bin. It is messy so we took it outside. She loved being able to play in the dirt (chocolate cereal), eat the worms (sour candy worms) and plant flowers. It was easy to put together and I found most of my supplies from the dollar store.

Supplies Needed:

  • Chocolate cereal
  • Fake flowers
  • Small pots
  • Chocolate frosting
  • Gummy worms
  • Plastic container

Directions:

  1. Spread a thin layer of frosting on the bottom of the container

    2. Add gummy worms to frosting

    3. Blend chocolate cereal to create edible dirt
    4. Add edible dirt to container
    5. Add in pots, flowers and anything else you want!
    6. Take it outside and have fun!!

Calming Sensory Bottle

February 27, 2021

This is another one of my favorite sensory toys! I love using this water bottle when Lola is in her carseat or I need a couple minutes to fold the laundry. It gives me major Lava Lamp vibes. It is very easy to put together and once again, I found most of the things I needed around the house.

Supplies Needed:

  • Water bottle
  • Water Beads (I found mine off of Amazon)
  • Hair gel
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Add in a 1:7 ratio of hair gel to water
  2. Stir the hair gel and water with a spoon until they are completely mixed together

  3. In a separate bowl, pour Water Beads into water to expand

  4. Add your water/hair gel mixture into the water bottle
  5. Add your Water Beads to the water bottle
  6. Watch the magic happen!

Under the Sea Sensory Play

I am a HUGE fan of sensory play and this is one of my favorites! It's perfect for Lola because it keeps her attention and is also edible. We are still in the phase of her putting everything in her mouth... 😅
I also love this activity because I had most of the things needed at home and everything else I found at the dollar store.

        Supplies Needed:

    • Blue Jello
    • Cheerios
    • Sea Creatures
    • Blender
    • Container

        Directions:

  1. Make Jello as per instructions on box.
  2. Add in sea creatures
  3. Refrigerate on slight angle for four hours
  4. Blend cheerios to create edible sand
  5. Pour sand into container
  6. Have fun!!

Lola had so much fun! It can get a little messy so I would suggest having your baby do it in a diaper or placing in on top of a plastic tablecloth. I loved watching her explore with touch, taste and smell. Taste was by far her favorite.
